Reception is taught by Mrs Newitt and Mrs Fielding. We love singing, dancing and all things Christmas! Reception is very ably supported by our wonderful Teaching Assistant - Mrs Bayliss.
Mrs Newitt and Mrs Fielding are both fully qualified Forest School Leaders so our plans for this year involve lots of outdoor learning. We spend time getting to know the children when they take their first steps in their school journey. From what we know, we then follow the EYFS Framework and plan fun and exciting activities which enable the children to learn through play and prepare for the National Curriculum in Year 1. Each week we focus on a story which will inspire our provision and practice and allows the children to fully immerse themselves in the content.
Reception spent the first half term settling into school and adapting to their new routines. They access all areas of the classroom - enjoying creative and physical activities as well as Forest School and phonics.
We have enjoyed learning about Autumn and Harvest. This included making bread, painting owls and learning about dark and light. All our learning has been through stories including gems such as Funnybones, The Little Red Hen and The Scarecrow's Wedding.
The children have really enjoyed getting to know their Year 6 buddies through reading activities, walking to church together and shared play sessions. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time with the children so far.
