Welcome to wonderful Year 6!
In Year 6, we have lots of fun and also make sure that we are ready for our transition to high school. We are taught by the lovely Mrs Slatter and her fabulous assistant, Mrs Watkins. As the eldest pupils in our school, we welcome the responsibility that comes with this. Many of us are Play Leaders and this gives us the opportunity to lead fun games and help the younger children to have happy playtimes. We are proud to be excellent role models to the rest of the school and show everyone how to be ‘Ready, Respectful and Safe’.
We enjoy some fantastic topics and get to experience some real ‘wow’ learning moments such as undertaking a heart dissection; a day’s roleplay WW2 experience; and the residential visit to Marle Hall.
This half-term, Year 6 have been learning about the heart, the circulatory system and healthy lifestyles. They have had great fun with their learning especially when it came to dissecting a pig's heart! All children were trained in first aid which included CPR, use of a defibrillator, cuts, burns and choking. We were fortunate to receive quality hockey coaching from Stratford Hockey Club and have also had swimming lessons at the leisure centre. In music, the class put together a performance of Pharrel Williams' 'Happy' to which they added musical accompaniment, harmonies, clapping parts and improvisation. They were very proud to share this in assembly where they wowed their audience!
