News

10th March 2023

Where did Spring go? The weather this week has certainly taken us by surprise and when planning our Spring enrichment, none of us ever imagined we would be going out in snow! That said, we were so pleased that our trips for Year 1, 4 and Reception this week could still happen. Despite the cold, lots of fun was had and you will be able to read more about all of these visits in next week's newsletter.

Last week we enjoyed World Book Day as a school and it was a wonderful celebration of literature. Without doubt a highlight was The Masked Reader which caused quite a stir amongst staff and children trying to work out who everyone was. I really hope your children have told you about this as it was such good fun. For more information on what each class did, do read about it here.

This week, Reverend Linda shared with us her aim for the community to come together to knit (or crochet) the church Christmas tree. It's a huge task with 4500 squares needing to be completed over the year. Lots of the children were really excited about taking part in this art installation. I did check that, even if your knitting skills are like mine (eek), your squares will still feature. So, if you would like to know more do have a look at the information here and get that green wool around those needles.

Finally, teachers are really looking forward to meeting everyone for Parents' Evenings next week. Do remember the Community Room will be open with books for you to browse through before coming in to meet with teachers.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Pancakes and Polar Expeditions!

Year 2 have recently learnt about the story Mama Panya’s Pancakes. The children got to taste pancakes before half term. They then wrote instructions on how to make a pancake for adults and children to follow. Year 2 have loved learning all about pancakes! Click here for the not-so-secret recipe and a picture of the end product (yum!).

This week Year 6 held their annual class assembly based on Shackleton's Journey. The children all worked in groups to create a PowerPoint, which together recounted the story of Shackleton's Trans-Antarctic Expedition. The children read their PowerPoint slides with confidence and several children were able to showcase the wonderful writing that has been produced in class linked to the text. Well done Year 6, great work!
