'Wear a Poppy Today'
Reception learnt a song at Forest Song called, 'Wear a Poppy Today', whilst making a huge poppy using all the red leaves they could find in the autumn fall.
Row, row, row your boat!
On Thursday, 6th November, eight of our Year 6 pupils took part in an exciting indoor rowing competition at Newbold Leisure Centre. Our students displayed incredible determination and skill, with outstanding performances across the event. We are proud to share that our boys' team finished in 1st place out of 9 teams, winning by an impressive 150 meters in total! Our mixed team also performed brilliantly, securing 3rd place out of 9 teams. This competition was the third of three, and we're eagerly awaiting the collated results to see how our pupils stack up overall.
A huge well done to all the pupils who took part, and fingers crossed for more exciting news soon!
Bellboating Regatta Success!
Alveston's sporting prowess doesn't stop there...! On Wednesday 22nd October, the school took part in a fantastic Bellboating Regatta. Alveston proudly entered two teams, both showing brilliant teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the races. The atmosphere was electric, with so much parental support on the sidelines - thank you to everyone who came along to cheer us on!
Armed with colourful pompoms and plenty of enthusiasm, our supporters made sure every paddler felt encouraged all the way to the finish line. To top it all off, our teams’ hard work and team-spirit were recognised with a beautiful handmade plaque, presented by none other than the inventor of the Bellboat himself.
The fun didn’t stop there, even the grown-ups got their turn on the water, joining in for a friendly race that brought plenty of laughter and excitement.
A huge well done to Team Alveston for representing our school so wonderfully and making it another hugely successful event. We can’t wait for next year’s regatta!

Crazy Hair Day!
We saw some spectacularly wacky hair do's at school this week - it was brilliant! The children (with expert help from their "glam teams" at home!) were so creative. But it's not just the children that love a crazy hair day. Many of our staff got into the spirit of the day too and donned wigs, tied plaits and got creative with pipe cleaners to join in with the fun! (Although they were rather elusive at picture-taking time...!).
Friends have confirmed that this lovely day brought in lots of chocolate and sweets for the tombola - make sure you come along to the "Shine Bright, Christmas Night" at 3:15 on 1st December to be in with a chance of winning a yummy treat...and more!
Thank you to the Friends for their hard work and enthusiasm and to our families/glam teams at home for their support of Crazy Hair Day - the children really do love it!

General Reminders
Parking at Drop-Off and Pick-Up
We are so lucky at Alveston that the Football Club allow all our parents who drive to school to use their car park for drop-off and pick-up. This makes it safer for all our children. Please continue to use the Football Club car park. Please do not park on Knights Lane, Oak Road or any double-yellow lines for pick-up or drop-offs. Please also ensure that you do not stop or park within the zig-zag "Keep Clear" markings. This area is marked to keep the flow of traffic moving and to ensure the safety of all pedestrians.
Sickness and Absence
Please let the school office know each day your child is absent from school by calling 01789 293412, option 1, and leaving a message. You may also email
parents3002@welearn365.com. You do not need to contact us daily if your child is sick/vomits. Absences for sickness/vomiting will be recorded 48 hours from the end of the day your child was last sick (i.e. if sick on Sunday, come back on Wednesday; if Tuesday come back on Friday).
Medicines in School
We cannot accept medicines in school without a prescription label and a medical form completed by a parent or carer. Please ask the school office for more information and/or a form via:
parents3002@welearn365.com
