Religious Education

At Alveston Religious Education is intrinsic to our teaching of tolerance, respect and understanding, encompassing of all major faiths.

As a Church of England School, RE is an important aspect of our children's education. We want our children to be spiritually aware. We don't expect all children to be Christian, however, we do expect children to be tolerant and respectful of everyone, regardless of faith or culture. We teach children about Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism.

The school uses the Agreed Warwickshire Syllabus for RE together with Understanding Christianity and each unit starts with a question. Children are taught information and are given skills to form their own interpretations and ideas to come to their answers. The Long Term plan for RE shows how units build on one another sequentially so over the course of their time at Alveston, children encounter all major faiths.
