Eucharist for Key Stage 2

News

8th April 2024

We started our Summer Term with a special Eucharist service for Key Stage 2. Reverend Linda came in to share every detail with our children - from things used, to worn, to what symbolism is on the clothes - she left no detail out. This experience really explained the significance of Eucharist and the eating of communion for all children. The service followed the Family Service sheet and wherever the congregation say words, the children spoke these words. Towards the end when it came to the actual communion, children could choose if they wanted to stand or not and whether they wanted communion or a blessing. Rev. Linda commented afterwards on how sensible, reflective and polite the children were.

Afterwards children said:

"It was really interesting. The way Rev. Linda explained everything in perfect detail made it all make sense and it was enjoyable. I love that she gives up her time every week to come here, we are really lucky." Sammy - Year 5

"It was so interesting to start the term this way, you don't get to do that on a normal day. I enjoyed the Eucharist and I am looking forward to going to church this year too. The wafer tasted like the outside of a flying saucer but it had a cross on so it helped me to remember Jesus." Darcey - Year 5
