September 2025

12th September 2025

This week in Collective Worship we have been thinking about the theme of Kindness and as we have come together as a whole school for the first time this academic year it has been lovely to witness so many acts of kindness. From older children caring so well for the youngest, to many of our newest families bringing cakes for today's bake sale to our catering staff making changes to our menu to ensure everyone has something yummy to eat at lunch -there has been kindness on show at every turn. It is so heart-warming to be part of such a kind environment and the children really have shone brightly this week. And whilst the weather has taken a turn downwards, we are definitely ramping up for greatness! I feel so very proud of every member of our school community this week. Have a fabulous weekend everyone, stay safe.

Congratulations to this week's Team Point winners, Othello Yellows! I And a big "WELL DONE" to anyone who earned a team point this week.
Uniform & Standards Reminder

As a school, we want to try and tackle the head lice situation that was rising rapidly last year. Our uniform policy states that shoulder length hair or longer should be tied back at all times in uniform coloured bands (green, grey, white, black). Please ensure if your child has hair longer than shoulder length that it is always completely tied back.

Many thanks for your cooperation on this.
Shining Brightly!

Year 4 were happy to be back and ‘shining’ together! And to prove it, the children created freezeframes of our school mission…
"Helping each other to Strive, be Happy, Inspire, Nurture and Excel in all that we do"
Double Double, Toil and Trouble...!

This week, Year 6 enjoyed a drama workshop delivered by the RSC, where they learned to perform lines and actions from Macbeth. They fully immersed themselves in the experience and had a lot of fun along the way.
The Scottish Play

Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed their RSC workshop earlier this week. They too looked at the story of Macbeth in detail, acting out various scenes and thinking about how the characters would feel and act.
It's Already Time to Apply for Secondary Schools!

Parents and carers of children who have just started in Year 6 are being asked to apply for a secondary school place for September 2026.

Applications opened on 1 September 2025 and, to receive a school offer on National Offer Day (2 March 2026), applications must be submitted by the deadline of 31 October 2025.

The Sound of Self Belief

Rocksteady is the leading provider of in-school band lessons for primary age children. They partner with thousands of primary schools across the country to deliver inclusive band lessons designed to amplify children’s self-belief, support wellbeing and help maximise their potential back in the classroom.

RockSteady's inclusive approach helps children find a sense of belonging through new friendships and a shared love for music, whilst boosting social skills, wellbeing and confidence. And we are pleased to have them at Alveston Primary, offering up a little sprinkle of musical magic every week. If you would like your child to benefit from fun and accessible Rocksteady lessons, click here for more information.

General Reminders

Parking at Drop-Off and Pick-Up
We are so lucky at Alveston that the Football Club allow all our parents who drive to school to use their car park for drop-off and pick-up. This makes it safer for all our children. Please continue to use the Football Club car park. Please do not park on Knights Lane, Oak Road or any double-yellow lines for pick-up or drop-offs. Please also ensure that you do not stop or park within the zig-zag "Keep Clear" markings. This area is marked to keep the flow of traffic moving and to ensure the safety of all pedestrians.

Sickness and Absence
Please let the school office know each day your child is absent from school by calling 01789 293412, option 1, and leaving a message.  You may also email parents3002@welearn365.com. You do not need to contact us daily if your child is sick/vomits. Absences for sickness/vomiting will be recorded 48 hours from the end of the day your child was last sick (i.e. if sick on Sunday, come back on Wednesday; if Tuesday come back on Friday).

Medicines in School
We cannot accept medicines in school without a prescription label and a medical form completed by a parent or carer.  Please ask the school office for more information and/or a form via:

parents3002@welearn365.com
