Wow - what a day! We didn't know what to expect from our Praise Party but it's fair to say, today truly blew us away with how spectacular it was. Adults and children from Alveston came together to experience the loud (very loud at times), informative, enjoyable song, dance and feel good party. The messages of God were woven carefully throughout. Alongside were messages of 'We can all make a difference', 'Doing a little can help a lot', 'Let us say thank you for our wonderful world'. So many valuable, grounding messages shared through acting, songs, dancing and worship. The theme of the event was 'World Changers' and, without a doubt, the World Changers song will become a favourite in Collective Worship from here on (short video clip above to give you a taste of how fabulous it is). Music came from iSingPop and Chip Kendall and when the children got the opportunity to meet them over our picnic lunch they were over the moon to meet celebrities. Poignantly, when Years 3 and 4 met Years 5 and 6 for a picnic lunch at the change over point, there were approximately 5000 children together eating. The story of the Feeding of the 5000 was shared by April Gold, from the Diocese Board of Education. It's quite hard to envisage that many people until you are sat amongst them, in the sun, eating together.
Today was such a good reminder of the joy that being part of the wider church family adds to school life for our children. The Diocese of Coventry worked so hard to put the day together just for the children in their church schools to enjoy. We would not have wanted to be anywhere else today.
On a personal level, as RE Lead in our school, I felt so incredibly proud of our children today. They absolutely absorbed everything about the atmosphere, the messages, the experience and the good fortune to be part of such a wonderful experience. Today will surely be a memory they have of primary school for many years to come. How often do you get to sing, dance and worship with no worries of anything else at all?
Let's hope and pray we get to experience an Alive event again in the future. I for one can not wait to go again!
