Christmas is here!

Christmas party day arrived at Alveston with an enormous bang today. Santa's arrival to school was even spotted, photographed and on the local Facebook page. Santa announced his arrival to the children with a quick tour around school ringing his bell before taking his spot in his temporary grotto for the children to visit him class by class. Santa wasn't alone today, he was joined by his favourite elf, Peppermint. Together they entertained us with a song, by telling us that both cookies and mince pies are favourites on Christmas Eve and by sharing news that Santa actually has 10 reindeer - the nine we know and Donder who acts as as a back up in case any reindeer is unwell on the big night!
Following our Santa visit, each class completed Christmas crafts and watched a Christmas film before our fabulous Christmas lunch. Served up by our kitchen team and a bonus member (Mrs Newitt - who was very excited to stand on the other side of the hatch), the children pulled their crackers and tucked into their delicious lunch.
Our afternoon involved lots of excitement, laughter, singing and dancing. DJ Si took to the decks spinning the tunes for a key stage disco for half of the afternoon. The children played games, strut their best moves and sang at the top of their voices to some festive faves. The second part of the afternoon was spent watching a special Christmas show with, none other than, Santa himself and two of his other elves - Jingle and Jangle. Although we soon realised they were not nearly as well behaved as Peppermint. They taught the children (and teachers) how to use their Christmas magic inside themselves. Much excitement, singing and hilarity was had as the cheeky elves even soaked the children with paintbrushes and 'fire hoses' during a song.
Everyone went home with happy smiles, a present from Santa and, most importantly, memories to treasure always.
