The Big Knit

This week Reverend Linda shared in Collective Worship about The Big Knit. The Alveston and Tiddington community are coming together to knit or crochet 4500 green squares to make a huge art installation Christmas tree in church. She demonstrated how this would look using some volunteers.
Why not join in and knit squares for this Community Art Installation?!
 
What to Knit:
 - Use double knit (DK), green yarn (any shade) and 6mm needles
 - Cast on 40 stitches
 - Garter stitch all rows (plain knitting) until work measures 25.5cm
 - Cast off
 
Or, to crochet:
 - Make a 40 stitch chain, work in double or treble stitch until work measures 25.5cm
 
Instructions for more seasoned knitters:
 - Knit or crochet Christmas tree decorations - all shapes and sizes
 - Not too small, and no bigger than 25.5cm tall
 
Instructions for younger people:
 - Knit smaller squares and make different coloured pom-poms as baubles
 
Drop-off points for your squares and knitted decorations:
 - St James' Church & St Peters' Church
 - Alveston CofE Primary School
 - Or someone can collect from you
 
Final deadline for collection: FRIDAY 3rd NOVEMBER.
