April 2026

17th April 2026

Welcome back to the summer term! We hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break.

It has already been a wonderfully busy start, with two fantastic class trips taking place this week. The children represented the school brilliantly, and it has been a joy to see their enthusiasm, curiosity, and positive attitudes in action. You can read all about Reception's visit to the farm and Year 6's trip to London below.

We have so much to look forward to in the weeks ahead, with a wide range of exciting learning opportunities, events, and experiences planned for the term. We are confident it will be a rewarding and memorable time for everyone.

We also recognise that, at times, life can feel challenging. It is during these moments that our community truly shines. By coming together, supporting one another, and showing kindness and compassion, we continue to build a nurturing and inclusive environment for all. We are incredibly proud of the strength and spirit of our school community.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to sharing many more successes with you throughout this next term.

Have a good weekend.

Fun on the Farm!

What an amazing time the children in Reception had at Oversley Hill Farm! They had a trailer ride to visit cows in a field, they learnt about lambs and had the opportunity to feed them and they visited chickens and explored the different eggs they have been laying. The children got to eat their lunch in a barn and tasted freshly made bread from fresh ingredients. The children also had the opportunity to sit in a tractor and learnt how this vehicle helps the farmers. It has been fantastic to see how farmers help as part of our 'People Who Help Us' topic. This was a wonderful experience.
Yes, Prime Minister!

Year 6 visited London for a trip to Parliament this week and had a fantastic day! The day began with lunch in St James’s Park and the children took in the sights including Buckingham Palace, The Mall, Horse Guards Parade and 10 Downing Street. At the Palace of Westminster, we learned about democracy, how laws are made, and were lucky enough to enjoy a workshop and tour and see the House of Commons in session. They also had the honour of meeting our MP, Manuela Perteghella. A truly memorable day!
Artists and Biographers in the Making

Year 4 have had a wonderful start to the summer term! In Art, the children have been exploring tints and tones, as well as using a range of shading techniques to create impressive three-dimensional paintings. In English, every child has stepped into the world of a biographer. They have been conducting research and crafting super sentences to write biographies about people they admire. We have all learnt so much and had great fun along the way. Have a read of some of their finished articles, published on Microsoft Sway – we are very proud of their hard work!

Switched on to Privacy

Switched on to Privacy is a campaign from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) to help parents and carers of 4 - 11 year olds talk to their children about online privacy.

Just as parents would talk with their children about road safety or speaking with strangers, online privacy is another life skill children need as they grow up. Small, regular conversations can help children understand what personal information is, how it’s used, and how to make safer choices online. Find out more here.

Park It Right

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service has shared a leaflet about the Park It Right campaign, can you please share this message and the leaflet with your school community.

The start and end of the school day are always busy, and we often see lots of cars parked on the roads around the school.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service would like to remind parents and carers how important safe and considerate parking is. Parking thoughtfully helps keep everyone safe and ensures emergency vehicles can get through if they’re needed.

When cars are parked on both sides of the road, the remaining space can be very narrow. While a standard car might fit through, fire engines need much more room. Delays of even a few seconds can be critical when responding to an emergency.

Please help by parking responsibly and leaving enough space on the road for a fire engine to pass. Thank you for doing your part to keep our children, neighbours and community safe.

Community Interest

General Reminders

Parking at Drop-Off and Pick-Up
We are so lucky at Alveston that the Football Club allow all our parents who drive to school to use their car park for drop-off and pick-up. This makes it safer for all our children. Please continue to use the Football Club car park. Please note: Parking is only available if there are spaces free and we can only park in the allocated bays. Once all the marked bays are full each day, parents will need to find alternative parking when dropping off and collecting their children. Please do not park in any other areas of the car park going forward. Please do not park on any double-yellow lines for pick-up or drop-offs. Please also ensure that you do not stop or park within the zig-zag "Keep Clear" markings at the main entrance to school. This area is marked to keep the flow of traffic moving and to ensure the safety of all pedestrians.

Sickness and Absence
Please let the school office know each day your child is absent from school by calling 01789 293412, option 1, and leaving a message. You may also email parents3002@welearn365.com. You do not need to contact us daily if your child is sick/vomits. Absences for sickness/vomiting will be recorded 48 hours from the end of the day your child was last sick (i.e. if sick on Sunday, come back on Wednesday; if Tuesday come back on Friday).

Medicines in School
We cannot accept medicines in school without a prescription label and a medical form completed by a parent or carer.  Please ask the school office for more information and/or a form via:
parents3002@welearn365.com
