News

18th February 2022

What a wonderful end to the half term! Everyone had fun today with our 'No Rules Friday'. Thank you to the Friends of Alveston of organising the event.
The windy weather - and boy, was it windy! - didn't spoil the day either! As all sorts of articles flew around and trees came down in Knights Lane, we all stayed safe and sound indoors and enjoyed our final day of the half term together.

As I have said this week, this has been our trickiest term of the pandemic. However, we have come out the other side having fun, smiling broadly and feeling warm and proud about our community.

Whatever you are doing, we would like to wish you a restful week and look forward to seeing you all on Monday 28th February.

Viking Visit Year 4
Earlier this term Year 4 had a victorious day with Erik Erikson learning about Viking everyday life, games and weapons. We had a lovely time making our own Viking coins and re-enacting different Viking courts and punishments!
Cook's Antarctic Exploration
This week Year 6 enjoyed an inspiring ‘Antarctic Explorer’ talk! Mr Cook (Lukas' grandfather) shared his own experiences and linked it to Shackleton’s Journey and the work we have been doing in class.

We saw Antarctic photography from Mr Cook’s many explorations into the Antarctic. It was fascinating to hear all about his trips; the journeys, the weather, the mighty waves (!) and the majestic wildlife. We all loved the photos of the penguins and the incredible icebergs. Thank you Mr Cook, you have inspired us - we all want to go on a school trip to Antarctica now!
