News

1st July 2022

This week was full of exciting news and events. In addition to our children's new found fame and excited farewells to members of the Alveston Family, we also had our Key Stage 2 area athletics for field events, a non-uniform day and a Bake Sale!

Is it me or is each week just flying by? Turn just a couple of pages of the diary and we are packing up for the summer holiday. Luckily we have a fabulous 3 weeks ahead!

Next week, we have our KS2 area athletics track events (Monday during the afternoon), Transition Day on Wednesday 6th when our children 'move up' for the day and experience their new classes and teachers. Next Friday 8th, we have our Summer Fayre / ALV Fest - our first since 2019! To add to the excitement, our Sports Day, weather permitting on Tuesday 19th July, will be our first for three years too.

If these events will be your first - don't worry! Event Information Sheets will be shared over the coming days so you know exactly how to navigate these end of year traditions.

Whatever you are doing this weekend, I wish you a peaceful one.

This week we had some exciting news about a book! Let's just say, our children are famous now! You can find out  what all the fuss was about here

It only seems 2 minutes ago that we announced the fabulous news about Miss Griffiths and here we are wishing her well on her next exciting chapter, with her first baby due later this month. Read about her send off here.

In addition we would like to take this opportunity to announce the arrival of two new members of staff from September 2022.

Joining our teaching team will be Mrs Potter. An experienced teacher, Mrs Potter will cover one afternoon each week in both Year 1 and Year 2 and a day in Year 5. In addition, she will work with children across the school in individual and group interventions. Mrs Potter will be with us on Wednesday 6th for our transition day to meet all our children.

We also welcome Mrs Price who will cover Mrs Clowrey's maternity. With Mrs Clowrey expecting her third baby in late September, Mrs Price will be joining us soon!

I am sure you will join me in welcoming both Mrs Potter and Mrs Price to our Alveston Family. We will share some photos soon, so you may put faces to their names!

School Uniform Reminder

At this time of year some families start thinking about school uniform for September or to replace the odd outgrown item. Before you purchase any new items, don't forget to check out our uniform list to ensure purchases are in line with our policy. In particular, please be aware that with the exception of the Alveston logo, all items should be logo free and trainers should be completely black from the sole to the laces. With our policy revised last year, we are expecting all children to be fully compliant with our policy in September 2022.

Our School Uniform page has all you need to know, as well as listing our suppliers. You can link to the page here. Don't forget Friends of Alveston will also be selling uniform at the Summer Fayre / ALV Fest on Friday 8th July. Here you will be able to pick up good quality uniform items at a fraction of the price.

If you need any help to source affordable uniform items, just let us know! If we are not sure, we have an army of frugal, savvy parents to call on! If you are still concerned about the cost of the uniform, please let us know as we may be able to support you.

Ordering School Uniform for September

In the last year we have set up two uniform suppliers SummitGB (shop in Stratford) and Brigade (online business based in Coventry) alongside our existing offering.  For more information, please visit our website by clicking here. We have been contacted by Brigade to let us know their last order date is 22nd July for guaranteed delivery before September.  We advise that parents actively source uniform as soon as possible to ensure they have it in time for September start.  Last year nationwide uniform suppliers were hit by unexpected Brexit and coronavirus delays.
