Year 5 perform at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre
On Friday, Year 5 took part in a Royal Shakespeare Performance at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Their performance blew us away! Read Josie's report to find out more!
Our recent experience of performing 'Much Ado About Nothing' on the Royal Shakespeare Theatre stage was unreal.
At first, in order to understand the play and how the characters relate to each other, we looked at the play in many forms so we could make sense of Shakespeare's language.
On the day of our first rehearsal, Mrs Chandler told us how big the stage was so, if we couldn't rehearse in the hall we had to go outside as it was the only space big enough!
We were lucky to have three people from the RSC come to school and help us get the play into great shape. After hours of hard work and patience, we felt ready to perform. Once we arrived at the theatre, we did a tech rehearsal and it was our first time on the proper stage, and to be on the same stage as famous actors was exhilarating.
The time had come. As I walked on stage, I was biting my nails I was so nervous but I knew this was our moment. I made sure to say my lines slowly and clearly but full of expression as the directors had advised. After the performance, we all bowed and congratulated each other. We all did an amazing job and it was an incredible experience.
Well done Year 5 - it really was a fabulous performance!
