Thank you to everyone for the phenomenal response to our campaign to refill the foodbank. Stock is returning to the shelves but we would like to continue to fill our shelves because we are expecting a very busy summer period so if you are in a position to do so please consider donating food or moneyl. At present we are specifically in need of tinned meat meals, such as chilli, casseroles and stew, tinned pies, tinned ham as well as tinned fruit, pasta sauce, noodles, biscuits, chocolates and sweets.
For the first four months of the year each month we have fed more than 300 people - some months as many as 350. The vouchers issued by Citizens Advice South Warwickshire have doubled on 2021 and the vouchers issued by Stratford District Council have increased by 25%. We anticipate this trend to continue as the cost of living increases really take hold.
You cannot get away from news about the cost of living crisis and the rising price of fuel, sadly this is stretching some of our families to breaking point. At the Foodbank we are seeing many more working people who just can't make ends meet and cover all their expenses. I believe this really demonstrates the importance of the work we do within the community.
Last week was volunteer week. Our foodbank is extremely well resourced with over 100 volunteers. I am so grateful for the work they do - without them we would not operate. We are looking for volunteers to collect from supermarkets and for a social media co-ordinator, if you can help us please get in touch.
