Wet Wet Wet!
Possibly our wettest — and definitely our favourite — Forest School session of the year! What began as a Valentine’s themed afternoon soon turned into a joyful “embrace the weather” adventure. Some children collected sticks to create a huge heart and experimented with photography, holding it up as if it were a floating balloon. Others built shelters using ropes and tarps, showing great teamwork and resilience in the rain. A few fully embraced the downpour, exploring what the heavy rain could do to our muddy mound paths! Soaked to the skin and proudly wearing our muddy medals, we headed back to school with puddle-jumping enthusiasm and unstoppable belly laughs. Much fun was had by all!

Camp Out!
Well… now that we’ve finally caught up on some sleep, we can safely say our very first school camp was an absolute delight! We had so much fun, made so many special memories and truly had the most wonderful time together. We sang songs around the fire, played games in the dark, toasted marshmallows for s’mores, enjoyed pizza, watched a film, journaled, read stories, chatted late into the evening and spent precious time with classmates we don’t always get to work with during the busy school day. There was something so special about seeing the children laugh, support one another and simply enjoy being together. These are memories that will stay with me forever, and honestly, thinking about it brings a tear to my eye.
Now, I do need to apologise - the photographs can’t quite be shared just yet… but all will be revealed! Watch this space next week for a little montage of our sleepover adventure.

Chinese New Year – Year of the Horse (2026)
Recently at Forest School, Reception celebrated Chinese New Year, marking 2026 as the Year of the Horse. The children took part in a range of themed activities across the forest site. Some made hobby horses by stuffing Mr McFeely’s socks with straw and tying them onto sticks. They proudly rode them around Forest School, galloping for days and showing great imagination and energy. Others enjoyed peaceful zodiac yoga, moving into animal poses from the Great Zodiac Race, encouraging balance and mindfulness. We also explored mark-making by painting Chinese symbols using watered-down mud and paintbrushes.

General Reminders
Parking at Drop-Off and Pick-Up
We are so lucky at Alveston that the Football Club allow all our parents who drive to school to use their car park for drop-off and pick-up. This makes it safer for all our children. Please continue to use the Football Club car park. Please note: Parking is only available if there are spaces free and we can only park in the allocated bays. Once all the marked bays are full each day, parents will need to find alternative parking when dropping off and collecting their children. Please do not park in any other areas of the car park going forward. Please do not park on any double-yellow lines for pick-up or drop-offs. Please also ensure that you do not stop or park within the zig-zag "Keep Clear" markings at the main entrance to school. This area is marked to keep the flow of traffic moving and to ensure the safety of all pedestrians.
Sickness and Absence
Please let the school office know each day your child is absent from school by calling 01789 293412, option 1, and leaving a message. You may also email
parents3002@welearn365.com. You do not need to contact us daily if your child is sick/vomits. Absences for sickness/vomiting will be recorded 48 hours from the end of the day your child was last sick (i.e. if sick on Sunday, come back on Wednesday; if Tuesday come back on Friday).
Medicines in School
We cannot accept medicines in school without a prescription label and a medical form completed by a parent or carer. Please ask the school office for more information and/or a form via:
